LEXINGTON, S.C. – The North Greenville University baseball team rallied from a three-run deficit in the seventh inning Saturday afternoon to earn a 5-4 non-conference victory over Lander at Lexington County Stadium.

Lander falls to 1-6 overall, while North Greenville, who swept the series, improves to 5-2 on the season.

Kyle Kadlub (1-0) picked up the victory on the mound for the Crusaders after striking out four and allowing one hit in 1.1 innings. Clark Scolamiero was credited with the save after tossing the final 0.2 innings.

Lander's Joseph Whitt (0-1) took the loss, walking two and allowing three earned runs on four hits in 1.1 innings.

The Bearcats went up 1-0 in the first inning after Nathan Schreckengost doubled home Alex Conaway. Bailey Connell and Conaway each scored on a passed ball and a wild pitch, respectively, in the third inning to give Lander a 3-0 lead.

The lead held until the seventh inning, when Nathaniel Maggio put the Crusaders on the board with a two-run double to cut the deficit to 3-2. 

North Greenville took its first lead of the day in the bottom of the eighth on a three-run homer from Brandon Odachowski. 

Lander threatened in the top of the ninth, pulling within a run on a sac fly from Schreckengost. The Bearcats loaded the bases with two outs, but Scolamiero induced a fly ball to end the game. 

For Lander, Schreckengost batted 2-for-2 with two RBI, two walks and a stolen base.

North Greenville's Eric Gilbert went 2-for-4 on the day.
