No. 19 men's soccer knocks off North Georgia in overtime thriller

Box Score

Dahlonega, Ga. – After both teams failed to register a goal in regulation, the No. 19-ranked Lander men's soccer team (8-2, 4-0 PBC) needed just 1:38 in the overtime period to triumphantly net the game's lone goal against North Georgia (5-5, 2-2 PBC). Forward Robbie Young played the part of hero as the sophomore recorded the game-winner in his third straight match with a goal.

The two sides recorded a combined 23 shots in regulation. Dean Cowdroy saved five shots on goal as the sophomore notched his fifth clean sheet of the season. Senior Sam Lofts and freshman Lars Kveseth each had two opportunities on goal that were thwarted by North Georgia keeper Matt Sharman.

The dramatic victory marks Lander's fifth straight and their seventh win in the team's last eight outings. The Bearcats have also recorded an impressive 13 consecutive wins in Peach Belt Conference regular season play.

Lander will be back in action at Van Taylor Stadium on Saturday as the team looks to protect its perfect conference record against USC Aiken at 3:30 p.m.
