Women's soccer drops overtime decision to Erskine

GREENWOOD - Erskine's Mel Foster connected on a header just 79 seconds into the first overtime to lead the Flying Fleet past Lander, 2-1, in a non-conference match at Huggins Field on Wednesday night.

Lander falls to 1-2 on the season, while Erskine improves to 2-2. The Bearcats will face Wingate on the road Saturday, Sept. 10, at 5:00.

After a scoreless first half, Lander took a 1-0 lead on a goal from Brianna Taylor off Kayla Walker's assist at the 62:03 mark. 

Erskine rallied to tie the match as Kayla Kieffer found the back of the net at 80:48, before clinching the victory in the first overtime. 

 

Lander outshot Erskine, 21-7, including a 13-4 advantage in shots on goal and a 6-4 lead in corner kicks. The Bearcats were whistled for offsides 12 times. 

Lander's Megan Wiley recorded two saves, while Erskine's Abbigale Schmidt made 12 stops for the Flying Fleet.
