Box Score FLORENCE, S.C. – Sam Lofts scored two twice on Thursday night as the Lander men's soccer team netted three unanswered goals in the second half to claim a 4-2 Peach Belt Conference victory over Francis Marion.
Lander improves to 5-3 overall and 3-0 in the PBC, while the Patriots slide to 2-6-1, (1-2).
Lofts gave Lander a 1-0 lead just 8:05 into the game on an assist from Sinclaire Sandy.
The Patriots came right back ten minutes later to tie the match at 1-1 when Mathias Hjort scored on a Levin Sandmann pass at 18:37.
The Bearcats fell behind early in the second half as Gaspard Mianne's goal put Francis Marion ahead 2-1 at the 46:03 mark.
Lander's Jamie North evened the score on a free kick at 62:27 and Lofts followed with his second goal of the night just minutes later on an assist from Conor Felstead to put the Bearcats up 3-2 at 64:21.
Felstead capped the scoring with a goal off a Sandy assist at the 76:39 mark.
Lander outshot FMU, 18-12, and led in corner kicks, 4-3.
Bearcat goalkeeper Dean Cowdroy tallied five saves, while Francis Marion's Jordan Le Guyader had two.
