GREENWOOD - The nationally ranked Lander baseball team has won at least 30 games for the ninth time in program history when the Bearcats downed Emmanuel, 7-1, Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference game at Dolny Stadium.

Lander, which is ranked No. 8 by NCBWA, No. 13 by D2 Baseball News and No. 14 by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, improves to 30-9 overall. Emmanuel drops to 4-31.

By scoring in the game, Lander ties the Peach Belt Conference record for consecutive games without a shut out at 260. USC Aiken set the record in games from 1996-2000.

Colton Rogers (5-1) was awarded the win after striking out five and allowing one earned run on six hits in seven complete innings.

Emmanuel's Bryson Cornett (0-4) took the loss, striking out five, walking three and allowing three earned runs on nine hits in 5.2 innings pitched.

The Lions got on the scoreboard first after Brandon Bostick advanced home on Hanon Price's RBI groundout.

However, Lander bounced back in the bottom half of the inning to knot it at 1-1 on Zach Daly's RBI single to right field that plated Matt White.

The Bearcats took the lead for good in the third after Colby Lusignan's RBI single scored Daly, and Lusignan later went home on Kellner's fielder's choice to go up 3-1.

Lander stretched its lead to 7-1 in the seventh when Sage Cornatzer scored on a bases-loaded walk, Mason Dodd singled in John Mangum, Ryan Troutman drove in Taylor Kellner, and Alex Conaway advanced on Matt White's sacrifice fly.

For the Bearcats, White batted 3-for-4 with one triple, Daly 2-for-3 and Kellner 2-for-5.
