Box Score GREENWOOD – The Lander volleyball team saw its four-match conference winning streak come to a halt with a 3-0 loss to Armstrong State on Friday evening at Horne Arena.
The Pirates topped the Bearcats 25-12, 25-15, 25-16.
Lander moves to 18-6 overall and 6-5 in the PBC, while ASU improves to 16-2, (6-0).
The Bearcats were paced by Halle Dotson's team-high nine kills. Khiani Kelly addd six kills, while Amanda Medlock chipped in five. Katie Haake dished out 13 assists to go along with five digs, while Hannah McManus added a match-high 16 digs. Medlock registered five digs and Reyonia Whipple led the Bearcats at the net with 2.5 blocks.
Lander took its first lead of the match in the second set off kills from Medlock and Dotson to grab a 2-0 advantage. Medlock added another kill to make the score 5-3 in favor of the Bearcats, but Armstrong State embarked on a 10-0 run to seize control of the set.
The Bearcats took another early lead in the third set, leading 3-1 following a kill from Kelly, before a six-point run swung momentum to Armstrong State.
The Bearcats will host Flagler in their second PBC contest of the weekend on Saturday at 2 p.m., in Horne Arena.
