Box Score GREENWOOD - Led by JR Washington's 17 points, the Lander men's basketball team placed five players in double figures and connected on 62.5 percent of its three pointers Saturday afternoon en route to a 85-58 Peach Belt Conference victory over Flagler College in Horne Arena.
Lander improves to 10-3 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the PBC, while Flagler slips to 4-7, 0-3.
Washington connected on 7-of-9 field goals, including 3-of-4 three pointers. Tyree King added 14 points, Matthew McClain 12 points and six rebounds, Tobiasz Hose 12 points, Rahu Purdue 10 points, and Sergio Smith five points and six rebounds.
Flagler's Nick Grier led the Saints with 14 points, while Keshaun Hamilton added 10 points and seven rebounds, Matt Clark 10 points, and Keith Gray seven points and 11 rebounds.
Lander, which led 45-32 at halftime, outrebounded the Saints, 40-35.
The Bearcats connected on 30-of-62 field goal attempts (48.4 percent), including 10-of-16 threes (62.5 percent), and 15-of-19 foul shots (78.9 percent).
The Saints were 20-of-57 from the floor (35.1 percent), including 9-of-25 threes (36 percent), and 9-of-15 free throws (60 percent).
The Bearcats, trailing 13-12 with 13:55 left in the first half, went on a 12-1 run to take a 24-14 advantage at 9:01.
Lander went on a 10-2 scoring spree later in the period to go up 42-25 with 2:39 remaining in the half.
The Saints opened the second half with a 10-2 run and cut the Lander lead to 47-42 at 17:49. The Bearcats built their lead back to double figures when Washington's layup made it 53-42 with 15:23 left to play.
Lander later used an 18-4 scoring spree to take a commanding 75-53 advantage with 5:36 left to play.
