GREENWOOD - The Lander volleyball team dropped its first Peach Belt Conference game of the season Saturday afternoon when the GRU Augusta Jaguars outlasted the Bearcats in five sets, 3-2, in Horne Arena. Game scores were: 25-27, 25-23, 25-15, 22-25, 15-7.

GRU Augusta improves to 9-3 overall and 3-2 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 11-3, 3-1.

Halle Dotson and Tarryn Angermeier had 17 and 14 kills respectively for the Bearcats, while Ali Kirk added 37 assists, Sophia Perkins 10 assists, Julia Ferreira-Alves 35 digs, Kendall Korte 24 digs and Kaitlyn Harrison 11 digs. Angermeier had a team-high nine blocks and Reyonia Whipple added seven.

The Jaguars' Jordan Bickett and Alyssa Latham both had double doubles. Bickett recorded 14 kills and 13 digs, while Latham had 53 assists and 23 digs. Rachel Windle added 17 kills, Savanna Gonzales and Blair Bolton 14 kills each, Cat DeSilvester 31 digs, and JaNhea Beisner 14 digs.

Lander will next host Converse College at 7 p.m, Tuesday, Sept. 29 in a non-conference game in Horne Arena.
