Saint Leo leads Lady Bearcat Invitational after first round

BLUFFTON, S.C. - The Saint Leo women's golf team shot a 9-under-par 279 Saturday to take the first-round lead by 14 strokes at the two-day, two-round Lander Lady Bearcat Invitational held at the par-72 Old South Golf Links.

The final round will be played Sunday.

UNC Pembroke is second with a 293 and is followed by: 3. Florida Tech 296, 4. Savannah College of Arts & Design and Montevallo 297, 6. Armstrong State 299, 7. West Georgia 302, 8. Flagler 303, 9. Lee University 306, 10. Columbus State 312, 11. North Georgia 319, 12. Young Harris 320, 13. Shorter 327, and 14. Eckerd 336. Lander does not have the needed four players for a team score.

Saint Leo's Amanda Jakobsson and Marie Coors are leading the invividual race for medalist honors after shooting 66 and 68 respectively.

For Lander, Lucia Jimenez Martin is tied for 21st at 75, Ye Eun Jin is tied for 39th at 78, and Monika Solanki is tied for 5th at 81.
