Box Score GREENWOOD - The Lander men's soccer team, which is No. 6 in the latest NSCAA South Region rankings, manufactured its highest scoring output of the past two seasons Wednesday night when the Bearcats defeated North Greenville University, 6-1, in a non-conference game at Van Taylor Stadium.
Lander remains unbeaten at 4-0, while North Greenville falls to 1-3. The Bearcats will open the Peach Belt Conference portion of its season Saturday at Georgia Southwestern in Americus, Ga.
Eion O Donovan gave the Bearcats a 1-0 advantage when he fired the ball from in front of the goal off an assist form Kioki Hutchings at 19:41.
Lander stretched the lead to 2-0 at 28:40 on Hugo Delhommelle's unassisted goal outside of the box.
North Greenville cut the margin to 2-1 at 46:20 after Doug Cordi found the back of the net off a pass from Victor Labi.
But Lander picked the pace right back up four minutes later when Robert Seaton netted an unassisted goal at 50:03. George Rose recorded his first goal of the year off an assist from Richard Bryan to give the Bearcats a 4-1 advantage at 74:48.
Then the Bearcats' Sam Lofts finalized the scoring when he posted a pair of goals at 77:47 and 87:09.
Lander outshot the Crusaders, 27-6, and led in corner kicks, 10-5.
Bearcat goalkeeper Barrett Nielsen recorded two saves, while North Greenville's Mateo Barzola had six.
