SAVANNAH, Ga. – The No. 18-ranked Armstrong State baseball team completed its three-game, Peach Belt Conference series sweep against Lander Sunday afternoon when the Pirates rallied for three, eighth-inning runs to claim a 4-3 victory at Pirate Field.

The Pirates improve to 16-3 overall and 9-1 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 9-11, 3-9.

Armstrong's Tyler Green (1-0) earned the win on the mound after striking out one and allowing just one hit in two innings pitched.

Lander's Cameron Tekker (0-2) took the loss with one walk and one run (unearned) on one hit.

The Bearcats took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when John Mangum walked and later scored on a wild pitch.

Armstrong tied it at 1-all in the bottom of the inning after Joey Lupus went home on Tyler Avera's groundout.

The Bearcats Matt White and Thomas Berry both had RBI doubles in the fifth to give Lander a 3-1 advantage.

But the Pirates clinched the win in the eighth when R.J. Dennard doubled in Avera, then JT Phillips and Cody Sherlin went home on Berry Aldridge's fielder's choice and a Lander throwing error.
