Box Score EVANS, Ga. – The top-seeded Young Harris College men's soccer team scored one goal in each half Sunday afternoon and defeated third-seeded Lander, 2-0, in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship game at Blanchard Woods Park.
Young Harris improves to 16-3-0, while No. 12-ranked Lander moves to 14-3-1. Both teams are expected to receive berths when the NCAA national championship tournament bracket is announced Monday night.
The Bearcats, a four-time winner of the PBC tournament, were appearing in the PBC championship game for the first time since 2009, when they defeated Flagler in a shootout.
Lander's Kioki Hutchings, Jamie North and Rob Seaton were named to the PBC All-Tournament team.
Paco Craig and Marco Micaletto netted goals for the Mountain Lions, who claimed their second straight PBC tournament title.
Craig gave Young Harris a 1-0 lead when he headed the ball in off the right post at 24:34. He was assisted by Lewis Hilton.
Micaletto stretched the lead to 2-0 after he controlled a Jake Simpson missed shot and fired it in the back of the net from 10 yards off to the right.
The Mountain Lions outshot Lander, 21-5, and led in corner kicks, 3-0.
Lander goalkeeper Barrett Nielsen totaled nine saves, while YHC's Jordan Bradshaw had four.
