Box Score GREENWOOD - Michael Leach scored two goals Wednesday night to lead the Lander men's soccer team to a 3-1 upset over No. 23 Young Harris in a Peach Belt Conference contest at Van Taylor Stadium.
Lander improves to 11-2 overall and 5-2 in the PBC, while Young Harris falls to 10-3, 5-1.
The Bearcats jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first half after Russell Parker and Leach scored goals within two minutes of each other.
Parker's goal, his first of the season, came at 19:11 from in front of the goal off a pass from Sinclaire Sandy.
Leach found the back of the net at 21:10 when he scored his fourth goal of the season off a pass from Richard Bryan.
Young Harris prevented the shutout when Lewis Hilton cut the deficit to 2-1 on a penalty kick at 38:46.
Leach closed out the scoring at 49:11 after his shot slipped in the left side of the goal off an assist from Stevan Gonzalez.
Young Harris outshot the Bearcats, 16-10, and led in corner kicks, 3-2.
Lander goalkeeper Barrett Nielsen totaled six saves, while the Mountain Lions' Jordan Bradshaw had four.
Lander will next travel to North Georgia for a 7:30 PBC contest on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
