Box Score MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The No. 17-ranked Lander men's basketball team fell for the third straight game Saturday afternoon when the University of Montevallo used a second-half surge to defeat the Bearcats, 61-49, in a Peach Belt Conference game at Trustmark Arena.
Montevallo improves to 11-7 overall and 7-1 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 13-3, 5-3.
Tobiasz Hose led Lander with a game-high 21 points and six rebounds and was the Bearcats' lone player in double figures.
Troran Brown paced Montevallo with 17 points and six assists, while Larry Slaughter added 14 points and seven rebounds, and Malik Fields nine points and 10 rebounds.
Lander, which led 34-30 at halftime, connected on 19-of-56 field goals (33.9 percent), including 5-of-19 threes (26.3 percent), and 6-of-9 free throws (66.7 percent).
Montevallo, which outrebounded Lander, 40-35, made 22-of-54 floor shots (40.7 percent), including 6-of-18 three-point shots (33.3 percent), and 11-of-19 foul shots (57.9 percent).
