Box Score DUE WEST - The Lander men's soccer team came from behind twice Wednesday night to defeat Erskine College, 3-2, on an overtime goal by Ali Mohamed in a non-conference match.
Mohamed scored the game winner after only 1:44 had expired in the overtime period on a cross assist from Rob Seaton.
Lander improves to 4-1-1 on the season, while Erskine falls to 3-3-1.
The Flying Fleet's Martin Maschio scored the game's first goal at the 36:20, but Lander's Steven Gonzalez retaliated and tied the game at 1-1 on a header that was assisted by Luis Zuluaga at 62:20.
Erskine's regained the lead at 2-1 when Alex Waldthausen scored on an unassisted goal inside the box at 69:31.
The Bearcats' Stephen Bray forced the overtime period when he headed the ball in goal off Elias Hatungimana's corner kick at 83:25.
Erskine led Lander in shots, 19-12. Each team had three corner kicks.
Lander's Barrett Nielsen had eight saves, while Erskine's Kiore Costa had four.
The Bearcats' next match will next travel to USC Aiken for a PBC match on Oct. 1.
