FLORENCE, S.C. - The fifth-seeded Georgia College women's tennis team defeated sixth-seeded Lander, 5-1, Friday afternoon in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament's fifth-place consolation match at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Tennis Center.
Lander, the No. 40 team in the country, moves to 16-7 overall, while No. 26 Georgia College improves to 18-7.
In doubles, No. 1 Carolina Lainez/Cayce Bradley (L) def. Ivana Marevic/Camille Clausse-Pujo (GC) 8-4; No. 2 Macy Polk/Hannah Serdinia (GC) def. Marion Courbis/Renata Mello (L) 8-2; and No. 3 Katie Krupp/Cristalei Polk (GC) def. Tiffany Vanhpraseuth/Alyssa Savill (L) 8-2.
In singles, No. 1 Macy Polk (GC) def. Marion Courbis (L) 6-2, 6-1; No. 2 Ivana Marevic (GC) def. Tiffany Vanhpraseuth (L) 6-2, 6-4; and No. 4 Cristalei Polk (GC) def. Ivanka Mocic (L) 6-3, 6-1.
The other matches were halted when Georgia College had enough points to secure the match.
