PENSACOLA, Fla. - The seventh-ranked Lander men's tennis team suffered its first defeat of the season Sunday afternoon when the Bearcats fell to No. 3 University of West Florida, 7-2, at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.

West Florida starts the season at 1-0, while Lander evens its record at 1-1.

In singles, No. 1 Bruno Savi (WF) def. Vincent Verpeaux (L), 6-2, 6-3; No. 2 Tony Rajaobelina (WF) def. Ristomatti Lanne (L), 7-6, 7-6; No. 3 Alex Peyrot (WF) def. Samuel Poutignat (L), 6-3, 6-2; No. 4 Kenny Brasil (WF) def. Adam Jonsson (L), 7-5, 6-3; No. 5 Niklas Terhorst (L) def. Felipe Frattini, (WF) 6-4, 2-6, 10-8; and No. 6. Marc Hofer (L) def. Douglas Boe (WF), 6-4, 2-6, 7-6.

In doubles, No. 1 Bruno Savi/Tony Rajaobelina (WF) def. Adam Jonsson/Oscar Axelsson (L), 8-2; No. 2. Domenico Sano/Alex Peyrot (WF) def. Niklas Terhorst/Samuel Poutignat (L), 8-5; and No. 3. Elio Latella/Felipe Frattini (WF) def. Vincent Verpeaux/Paulo Fernandes (L). 8-6.
