Box Score GREENWOOD – The Lander volleyball team completed its sweep of Flagler College Saturday afternoon on Senior Day when the Bearcats claimed a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference victory in Horne Arena. Game scores were: 22-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-18.
Lander, which claimed its first-ever victories over Flagler this season, improves to 21-9 overall and 9-9 in the PBC, while Flagler drops to 14-15, 8-10. The Bearcats, who were ranked No. 8 in the last Southeast Region poll, recognized seniors Jessica Register and Anna Padezanin.
The Bearcats earned the No. 6 seed in next week's Peach Belt Conference Tournament and will travel to No. 3 GRU Augusta for a first-round game on Tuesday, Nov. 11. In other first-round games, No. 8 Francis Marion travels to No. 1 Armstrong; No. 7 Flagler goes to No. 2 USC Aiken and No. 4 Montevallo hosts No. 5 Columbus State.
Lander's Sydney Tracy and Tarryn Angermeier had 14 and 13 kills respectively, while Register added 42 assists and 11 digs. Julia Ferreira-Alves chipped in 19 digs, Kendall Korte eight kills and 15 digs, and Sarah Bradley 14 digs.
The Saints were led by Taja Valmyr (17 kills, 14 digs), Sara Davis (15 kills), Amelia Morgan (51 assists, 14 digs), Caitlyn Kovach (21 digs), Ashley Lechleidner (18 digs) and Rachel Bryant (14 digs).
Lander had nine total blocks and were led by Register's seven block assists. The Bearcats had a .211 hitting percentage, compared to Flagler's .124.
