MONTEVALLO, Ala. - Jose Cubillan scored the lone goal of the game Saturday evening to lead the Lander men's soccer team to a 1-0 Peach Belt Conference victory over the University of Montevallo.

Lander improves to 5-2-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the PBC, while Montevallo sinks to 4-2-3, 1-1-2.

Cubillan scored on an unassisted goal at the 10:23 mark.

The Bearcats outshot Montevallo, 18-9, and led in corner kicks, 6-5.

Montevallo goalkeeper Yannic Horn totaled four saves, while Lander's Barrett Neilsen had three.

It was the third shutout of the season for Lander.

The Bearcats will next host PBC rival UNC Pembroke at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Van Taylor Stadium.
