AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Lander volleyball team suffered a heartbreaking, five-set loss to GRU Augusta Friday night when the Jaguars claimed a 3-2 Peach Belt Conference victory in Christenberry Fieldhouse. Game scores were: 25-17, 20-25, 25-20, 15-25, 15-12.

GRU Augusta improves to 18-7 overall and 8-5 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 17-6, 5-6.

Lander's Sydney Tracy had a game-high 24 kills, while Kendall Korte and Jessica Register added double-doubles for the Bearcats. Korte recorded 18 kills and 14 digs, while Register had 49 assists and 20 digs. Sarah Bradley chipped in 19 digs, Julia Ferreira-Alves 15 digs and Kaitlyn Harrison 11 digs. Bradley and Kate Schwartz had two service aces each, while Reyonia Whipple and Tracy posted seven and six blocks respectively.

The Jaguars were led by Kali Boatwright (18 kills, 15 digs), Kristen Koch (15 kills, 18 digs), Maggie Darling (14 kills, 11 digs), Katie Beresford (10 kills), Sadie Thurston (34 assists, 18 digs), Alyssa Latham (32 assists), and Catherine Desilveste (30 digs).

The Bearcats will next face Peach Belt Conference rival Georgia College at 2 p.m., Saturday, in Milledgeville, Ga.
