Box Score AMERICUS, Ga. – The Lander women's soccer team collected its fifth shutout of the season and remained unbeaten Saturday afternoon in defeating Georgia Southwestern, 4-0, in a Peach Belt Conference contest.
The Lady Bearcats improve to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in the PBC, while GSW sinks to 0-6, 0-2.
Casey Black kicked off the scoring with a goal at 19:49 which was assisted by Nina Morales.
Lander took a 1-0 lead into halftime, then came out and scored three times in the second period.
Kari George scored on a cross from Fayla Junior at 63:05 to stretch the lead to 2-0; Black scored for the second time to make it 3-0 at 64:22; and Junior found the back of the net off an assist from Morales at 85:14 to complete the scoring.
Lander outshot the Lady Hurricanes, 39-3, and led in corner kicks, 15-2.
Lady Bearcats goalkeeper Katie Lyle had two saves, while GSW's Elyse Gowan had five.
Lander will next host Georgia College in a PBC game at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 25 at the Jeff May Complex.
