Box Score GAFFNEY – Senior Jeff May's sacrifice fly in the 11th inning plated Patrick Grady and gave the No. 19 Bearcats a 3-2 non-conference victory over Limestone College Sunday afternoon at Bob Prevatte Field.
Lander, which completed the series sweep after beating the Saints, 13-2 and 9-2, in Greenwood on Saturday, improves to 32-12 overall, while the Saints drop to 20-26.
The Bearcats' Kyle Tate (2-2) earned the win after striking out four and allowing two hits in 2.1 innings pitched. Jeremy Jansen was awarded his third save of the season in two-thirds of an inning on the mound.
Limestone's JM Spangler (2-1) took the loss as he allowed one earned run in one inning pitched.
Lander took a 2-0 lead in the sixth inning when May's RBI double scored Weston Lawing and Patrick Grady.
Limestone made it 2-all in the bottom of the inning after Tyler Wood drove in KJ McAllister and Josh Greene with a single to right centerfield.
For Lander, May batted 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Limestone's Greene went 3-for-4.
The Bearcats will next host Carson-Newman at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, in a non-conference game at Dolny Stadium.
