DUE WEST - Lander starting pitcher Kyle Tate allowed just three hits Wednesday afternoon as the No. 7 Bearcats pounded out 17 en route to a 15-1 non-conference victory over rival Erskine College at Grier Field.

Lander improves to 15-3 overall, while Erskine drops to 13-7.

Tate (1-0) was awarded the win after going seven innings with three strikeouts, one walk and no earned runs.

Erskine's Dustin Sherbert (2-2) took the loss, walking two, and allowing two earned runs on four hit in 1.2 innings of work.

Lander went up 1-0 in the first inning after Patrick Grady doubled and went home on an error, then the Bearcats stretched the lead to 3-0 in the second inning on Jeff May's run-scoring double that plated Weston Lawing, and Ian Harvey's RBI single that scored May.

In Lander's seven-run, third inning, May's RBI single scored Connor Lewis, Jacob Tisdale was hit by pitch and forced in Lawing, Harvey's bases-loaded walk scored Painter, May scored on a fielder's choice, Erik Lunde's bases-loaded walk sent Tisdale home, Grady's sacrifice fly scored Harvey, and Lewis' sacrifice fly plated Ramos.

The Bearcats made it 11-0 in the fourth when May doubled and later scored on Harvey's RBI single. Tisdale's solo homer in the sixth made it 12-0, then the Bearcats added two more in the seventh on Lawing's two-RBI triple that scored Grady and Lunde.

Erskine finally got on the scoreboard in the seventh when Drew Willingham doubled and later scored on Austin Gambrell's RBI single.

For Lander, Lawing and May both batted 3-for-5, Harvey went 3-for-4 and Tisdale and Grady both 2-for-3.
