Box Score GAFFNEY – Lander's Mario Pendarvis was the Bearcats' lone player in double figures Saturday night in a 58-55 non-conference loss to Limestone College in the Timken Center.
Limestone improves to 4-2 overall, while Lander slides to 2-3.
Pendarvis connected on 5-of-13 field goals, including 3-of-5 three pointers for 13 points. Dermaine Smith added eight points and 10 rebounds, while Alen Hardy had eight points and five assists.
PJ Foster led Limestone with a game-high 18 points, while Josh Odem added 13 points and seven rebounds, Shaq Dance 11 points, and Jamal McNeill eight rebounds and seven points.
Lander connected on 23-of-61 field goals (37.7 percent), 6-of-17 threes (35.5 percent) and 3-of-6 free throws (50 percent).
Limestone, which outrebounded Lander, 34-32, made 23-of-48 floor shots (47.9 percent), 11-of-28 threes (39.3 percent) and 1-of-2 foul shots (50 percent).
After a closely contested first half which featured five ties and ended 25-25 at halftime, Limestone inched out to a 31-25 lead at 18:27 of the second half. Lander, led by two threes by Pendarvis and a Hardy layup regained the lead at 33-31 with 15:56 left to play.
Limestone went ahead 34-33 and after two more ties at 42- and 44-all, took a 55-48 advantage with 2:45 left.
Lander's Mike Lee scored on a layup and sank two free throws and Mike Panaggio nailed a three to tie the game at 55-55 with 33 seconds remaining.
The Saints' Foster netted a three for the game's final basket with five seconds left to win the game.
