The Bearcats enter the game with a 7-1-1 overall record, while Wingate is 8-3.
We Played Them, Too: The two teams have two common opponents, Lees-McRae and UNC Pembroke. Lander defeated Lees-McRae, 2-0, on Sept. 7, while Wingate lost to the Bobcats, 2-1. Wingate defeated UNCP, 4-1, on Sept. 11, while Lander lost to the Braves, 3-0, on Oct. 9. That loss is Lander's lone defeat of the season.
Highly Ranked: The Bearcats are one of the top offensive and defensive teams in NCAA Division II. Lander has allowed just five goals this season, while posting seven shutouts. In addition to UNCP's three goals, Clayton State scored two goals in Lander's 3-2 overtime victory on Oct. 12. Offensively, Lander has scored 31 goals.The Bearcats are No. 1 in the country in shutout percentage (0.67), third in goals per game (3.44) and fifth in points per game (9.00).
Blocking the Net: The Lander defense did not allow a goal for the first six games of the season. During that time, Lander outscored its opponent, 25-0. One of those shutouts was a 0-0 deadlock against Erskine College.
Individually Speaking: Chris Hobbs leads the team with eight goals, while Clement Dauchy has added seven goals and two assists, and Kevin Durand six goals and four assists. Defensively for Lander, goalkeeper Barrett Nielsen has recorded five shutouts with 29 saves in almost 804 minutes in goal.
