Box Score DUE WEST – Five different players scored goals Wednesday night to lead the Lander women's soccer team to a 5-2 non-conference victory over Erskine College.
Lander improves to 1-1-1 with the win, while Erskine drops to 1-1-1.
Jamie Shaw gave Lander a 1-0 lead at 27:28 on an assist from Kimberly Kessler.
Lander picked up the momentum in the second half when the Lady Bearcats scored three goals in a two and a half minute span. Hilary Ferguson fired in an unassisted score over goalkeeper Katie Lyle's head at 63:19, Casey Black headed in a rebound off the goalie at 64:42, and Kendall Couch put in an unassisted shot at 65:48.
The Lady Flying Fleet cut the margin to 4-1 at 81:09 when Jamie Morris scored off a pass from Kimrey Angotti-Smith.
The Lady Bearcats stretched the margin to 5-1 after Lindsey White slipped a shot under a diving Lyle at 81:13.
Casey Rosborough netted the game's final goal for Erskine at 86:37.
Lander outshot Erskine, 23-6, and led in corner kicks, 7-2.
Lyle tallied 13 saves, while Lander's Kelsey Blair had two.
