GREENWOOD – Jeff May stroked a three-run homer in the third inning Tuesday night and added another RBI in the eighth to lead the Lander baseball team to a 7-1 non-conference victory over rival Erskine College at Dolny Stadium.
Lander improves to 29-15 overall, while Erskine drops to 25-19.
The Bearcats' Brandon Miller (7-1) earned the win on the mound after striking out five, walking one and allowing one earned run on four hits in six innings of work.
The Flying Fleet's John Sever (1-2) suffered the loss, striking out five, walking three and allowing four earned runs on five hits in 4.1 innings.
May's homer, which drove in AJ Nunziato and Aaron Poole, gave Lander a 3-0 lead, but the Fleet came back in the fourth with one run when Brandon Wooten singled in in Drew Willingham.
Lander went up 4-1 in the fifth after Ian Harvey doubled to left center, advanced to third on a balk, and scored on a wild pitch.
The Bearcats scored their final three runs in eighth. Jordan Owens walked and later scored on a wild pitch, while Poole and May added RBI singles.
For Lander, Poole batted 2-for-2 and May 2-for-4.
Erskine's Phillip Herring went 2-for-4.
