GREENWOOD – The No. 30-ranked Lander baseball team edged Anderson University 1-0 Wednesday night on a bases-loaded sacrifice fly in a non-conference contest at Dolny Stadium.
Lander improves to 28-12 overall, while Anderson slips to 13-33.
Brandon Miller (6-1) earned the win on the mound for the Bearcats, striking out six, walking one and allowing two hits in five complete innings. Ross Davis earned his sixth save of the season after striking out one in one inning.
Anderson's Spencer Earle (3-5) took the loss after striking out six, walking two and allowing one earned run on three hits in six innings.
The Bearcats scored the lone run of the game in the fourth inning, when Lander loaded the bases -- AJ Nunziato doubled, Kevin Starr singled and Jordan Owens was hit by pitch – and Weston Lawing's sacrifice fly plated Nunziato.
Zach Reeves batted 2-for-4 for the Trojans.
