GREENVILLE - Lander's AJ Nunziato, Patrick Grady and Jeff May each homered and Ross Davis struck out the side in the ninth inning Wednesday night to lead the No. 9-ranked Bearcats baseball team to a 6-5 non-conference victory over Anderson University at Fluor Field.

Lander improves to 24-8 overall, while Anderson slips to 10-17. The 5,700-seat Fluor Field is home to the Greenville Drive, which is a Class A minor league affiliate of the Boston Red Sox and a member of the South Atlantic League.

Lander's Ches Courtney earned the victory in relief after striking out one and allowing one hit in one inning of work. Anderson's Spencer Earle (3-4) suffered the loss after striking out one, walking three and allowing four earned runs on six hits in 4.1 innings.

Anderson took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on Ryan Kirkland's RBI double that plated Erick Sanderson.

The Bearcats tied the game at 1-all in the third when Erik Lunde singled and later scored on an Anderson error.

Jeff May's two-run homer in the fourth that scored Kevin Starr put Lander up 3-1, then the Bearcats made it 5-1 in the fifth when AJ Nunziato led off with a solo home run, and Jordan Owens drove in Patrick Grady.

The Trojans trimmed the lead to 5-2 in the sixth on another Kirkland RBI double, but Lander answered that run with Grady's solo homer in the seventh.

Anderson rallied for three runs in the eighth to cut the Lander advantage to 6-5 when Thomas Padro's RBI single plated Tony Price and Brett Cash drove in Padro and Kirkland.

Davis picked up the save when he struck out Blake May, Erickson Sanderson and Brett Scarberry.
