FLORENCE – The Francis Marion women's tennis team defeated Lander, 9-0, Saturday afternoon in the Peach Belt Conference opener for both teams.

FMU improves to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the PBC and Lander slips to 3-3, 0-1.

In singles, No. 1 Jitka Gavdunova (FMU) def. Aurelia Ruffat (LU) 6-0, 6-0; No. 2 Mona Blauen (FMU) def. Eliza Adusumilli (LU) 6-4, 6-0; No. 3 Tereza Baranova (FMU) def. Brandi Cordell (LU) 6-0, 6-1; No. 4 Julia Graf (FMU) def. Cayce Bradley (LU) 6-0, 6-3; No. 5 Kimberley Hurter (FMU) def. Lori Flick (LU) 7-5, 6-2; and No. 6 Kerry Hall (FMU) def. Raissa Adusumilli (LU) 6-2, 4-6, 10-6.
