GREENWOOD - The No. 22-ranked Lander women's soccer team lost for the first time in 12 games Wednesday afternoon when the Lady Bearcats fell to North Georgia College & State University, 3-0, in a Peach Belt Conference contest at the Jeff May Complex.

North Georgia improves to 12-3-2 overall and 5-3-2 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 10-2-3, 8-1-1.

Sophia Matonak gave North Georgia a 1-0 lead at 41:18 when she fired in a loose ball from eight yards in front of the goal.

The Lady Saints stretched their lead to 2-0 at 52:28 after Caroline Wallace scored on an assist from Emily Bowen.

Kelly Penston netted the Lady Saints' final goal at 84:45 on an assist from Wallace.

North Georgia outshot Lander, 15-6, while Lander led in corner kicks, 6-5.

Lander goalkeeper Kelsey Blair grabbed four saves, while North Georgia's Mallory Sayre had two.
