GREENWOOD – Fred Parker netted two goals Wednesday night to lead the No. 9-ranked Lander men's soccer team to a 2-1 non-conference victory over Wingate at the Jeff May Complex.
Lander, which is also ranked No. 1 in the Southeast Region, improves to 4-1-1 overall, while Wingate drops to 2-4.
With just 20 seconds left in the first half, Parker gave the Bearcats a 1-0 lead when he fired in a shot from directly in front of the goal off an assist from Zach Acree.
Wingate tied the game at 1-1 at 57:50 after Gui Lima got behind Lander goalkeeper Scott Playle and scored on an assist from Peron Da Silva.
Parker scored the game winner at 75:59 when he knocked in a missed shot by Mathias Jensen.
Lander outshot Wingate, 13-10, and led in corner kicks, 5-4.
Wingate goalkeeper Stephen Harris recorded four saves, whileLander's Scott Playle had two.
