ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Jordan Owens and Kevin Childs had back-to-back RBI doubles in the 10th inning Sunday afternoon to lead the Lander baseball team to a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over Flagler College.
Lander improves to 25-19 overall and 11-9 in the PBC, while Flagler drops to 19-23, 9-12. Lander won the series, 2-1. The Bearcats won Saturday's first game, 6-2, the dropped the nightcap, 8-6.
The Bearcats forced the extra innings in the ninth when they tied the game at 1-1 after Childs singled, advanced to second on Jeff May's sacrifice bunt, then scored on Jacob Tisdale's RBI single down the left field line.
Owens' double in the 10th plated Erik Lunde, then Owens scored on Childs' two-baser down the left field line.
Darren Tew (4-1) earned the win for the Bearcats, while striking out two, walking none and allowing one hit in one inning pitched. Ross Davis picked up his third save of the season in two-thirds of an inning.
Flagler's Max Rusch (7-2) suffered the loss after allowing three earned runs on five hits in two innings.
Flagler took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Kyle Foti's RBI double to right center scored Evan Grandizio.
For Lander, Childs went 2-for-5, while Flagler's Grandizio, Foti and Charlie Stewart all went 2-for-4.
