The Wolves improve to 2-0 overall, while Lander moves to 1-2. The two teams will play a single game at 1 p.m. Sunday at Newberry.
In the first game, Newberry's Josh McElwee (1-0) earned the win.
Lander's Chris Thomas (0-1) took the loss as he struck out four, walked five and allowed two earned runs on five hits in 3.1 innings pitched.
For Lander, Jeff May went 1-for-4 with one double and one run scored, while Alan Abreu went 1-for-4 with one double.
For Newberry, Robby Scaggs went 1-for-3 with one double and one run scored, while Terrence Gray batted 2-for-3 with one run and John Fogarile 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
The Wolves took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Sanchez Gartman walked, advanced to third on back-to-back singles by Gray and Fogarile, then scored on a passed ball.
Chris Love's RBI single in the third inning gave Newberry a 2-0 lead when he plated Andy Vogel. The Wolves made it 4-0 in the fourth when Fogarile plated Gray with an RBI single then later scored himself on another passed ball.
The Bearcats cut the lead to 4-1 in the fifth inning when May, who doubled to centerfield, scored on Patrick Grady's sacrifice fly to right field.
Newberry bounced back in the seventh to make it 5-1 when Evan Darr's sacrifice fly plated Scaggs.
In the second game, Newberry broke a scoreless tie in the eighth inning when the Wolves exploded for six runs for the win.
Cole Robinson (1-0) earned the win as he limited the Bearcats to two hits in eight innings pitched.
Lander's Michael White (0-1) suffered the loss as he struck out three and allowed two earned runs on two hits in 1.1 innings pitched.
Lander's Cody McElhaney and Adam Davey got the only hits for Lander.
Newberry's Gartman went 1-for-3 with one double, while Gray went 1-for-4 with one run and two RBI.
In the eighth, Love's RBI single plated Kevin Rufus, Andy Vogel scored on a bases-loaded hit by pitch, Darr and Love scored on Gray's RBI single, Morgan scored on a pitcher's error and Gray stole home.
