Box Score 2 GREENWOOD – Jessica Register recorded a pair of double-doubles Friday to lead the Lander volleyball team to two victories on the opening day of the Lander Crossover Tournament. The Bearcats defeated Augusta State University, 3-1 (25-21, 25-20, 15-25, 25-15), then downed Coastal Georgia, 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-21). The victory over Augusta State counted as a Peach Belt Conference game.
Lander improves to 10-12 overall and 2-7 in the PBC.
Against Augusta State, Register totaled 28 kills and 17 digs. Hannah Dederick had 10 kills, while Magi Nottingham and Mallory Wasik total eight each. Madison Kubal and Katelyn Kraft chipped in 16 and 10 digs respectively, while Rebekah Davis added four block assists and one solo block.
Augusta State was led by Kristen Koch (12 kills), Krystin Wahlig (32 assists, 11 digs), Alex Rohlfing (9 kills, 19 digs), Collette Richards (15 digs) and Lauren Alverson (10 digs).
Against Coastal Georgia, Dederick and Davis had eight and seven kills respectively, while Register tallied 27 kills and 11 digs, and Kiki Hennessey had 11 digs.
The Mariners were paced by Holly Hammer (9 kills, 9 digs), Al Aplington (8 kills, 16 assists), Maggie Bee (13 assists, 6 digs) and Kansas Robison (17 digs).
In the other games, Montevallo defeated Erskine, 3-0, Armstrong Atlantic defeated Erskine, 3-0, Lees-McRae downed Augusta State, 3-1, and Coastal Georgia beat St. Andrews, 3-0.
