GREENWOOD - The Lander volleyball team rallied from two sets down Wednesday night, but fell short in the final game and dropped a Peach Belt Conference contest to Augusta State, 3-2, in Horne Arena. ASU won 25-23, 25-23, 13-25, 14-25, 15-11.
Augusta State improves to 4-8 overall and 1-2 in the PBC, while Lander slips to 5-6, 0-4.
Lagi Roberts and Lisa Bartsch posted double-doubles for the Lady Jags. Robert had 13 kills and 13 digs, while Bartsch registered 37 assists and 22 digs. Jessica Hanson added 10 kills, while Andria Tagarellia had 30 digs, Mandy Irizarry 15 and Chase Lowther 10. Tagarellia and Bartsch had two service aces each and Hanson had five block assists.
Melissa McCracken and Lindsey Everhart had 16 and 15 kills respectively for Lander, while Courtney Simmons added 10. Candace LaRocca had a double-double with 54 assists and 16 digs, while Madison Kubal had 35 digs and Magi Nottingham 20. Chelsey Corgan added five service aces, while Everhart and McCracken had three block assists each.
Lander will host UNC Pembroke at 7 p.m., Friday, in a PBC contest.
