ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Lander volleyball team evened its record at 5-5 Saturday when it dropped a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference match to Flagler College.
Flagler improves to 7-4 overall and 2-0 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 0-3 in the PBC.
After losing the first game 25-9, Lander battled back to take the second set 26-24. The Bearcats gave the PBC's preseason favorite all it wanted over the next two sets, but lost them 25-23 and 25-20.
Mallory Wasik led Lander in kills with 11, while Lindsey Everhart and Hannah Dederick added nine each. Candace LaRocca posted 33 assists, while Madison Kubal had 28 digs and Magi Nottingham 11 digs. Everhart and LaRocca added three and two service aces respectively.
Flagler's Meg Weathersby led the Saints with 16 kills, while Dianna Craine added 15 and Laura Lancaster 14. Rebecca Royal and Olivia Snipes chiped in 29 and 16 assists respectively, while Casey Gnann recorded 15 digs and Jillian Unitas 13.
