AMERICUS, Ga. - The Georgia Southwestern baseball team rallied for three runs in the eighth inning and scored the game-winner on a bases-loaded walk in the ninth Friday night in a 6-5 Peach Belt Conference win over Lander at Hurricane Stadium.
GSW improves 20-12 overall and 9-7 in the PBC, while Lander slips to 20-16, 4-12.
Lander's Ben Runyon (2-2) took the loss after facing just three batters.
Lander took a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning when Robert Skinner scored from third on a GSW error.
After the Hurricanes scored two runs in the bottom of the inning, Lander regained the lead at 3-2 as Bud Lanier scored on Skinner's sacrifice fly and Pete Hernandez's RBI single plated Jordan Owens.
The Bearcats made it 4-2 in the eighth on Lanier's RBI triple.
Georgia Southwestern countered with three runs in the eighth to take a 5-4 lead on Zack Stanton's two-RBI triple and Trent Dooley's RBI single.
Both teams scored one run each in the ninth inning. Owens tied the game at 5-5 when he scored on a throwing error, then GSW's Shane Doyle scored the game-winner on the bases-loaded walk.
Skinner batted 2-for-3 for the Bearcats.
