WINGATE, N.C. - The Wingate baseball team used three home runs Tuesday night to defeat Lander, 11-7, in a non-conference game.

Wingate improves to 29-17 overall, while Lander drops to 23-20.

The Bulldogs' Blake Parsley (1-0) earned the win as he struck out two, walked two and allowed three earned runs on four hits in three innings pitched.

Lander's Brantley Blalock (1-1) took the loss, striking out four, walking three and allowing five earned runs on six hits in 4.2 innings pitched.

The Bulldogs opened with five runs in the first inning. Casey Allison and Dodson McPherson had RBI singles before Tres Ramirez blasted a three-run homer to left field.

Lander cut the Wingate lead to 5-3 in the second inning when Alan Abreu scored on Robert Skinner's groundout and and Ryan McNulty went home on a bases-loaded walk.

The Bearcats made it 5-4 in the fourth on RBI doubles by Pete Hernandez and Devin Ridlehoover, which plated Skinner and Bud Lanier.

Wingate extended the lead to 6-4 in the fourth on Allison's RBI single.

Lander tied the game at 6-6 in the fifth on Skinner's two-RBI single which scored Ryan McNulty and Abreu, but Wingate bounced right back to retake the lead at 8-6 in the bottom of the inning on Jacob Karr's two-run homer.

The Bearcats rallied to cut the margin to 8-7 in the sixth when Lanier crossed the plate on Aaron Fludd's groundout.

Brian Yeung's three-run homer in the sixth gave the Bulldogs an 11-7 lead.

For Lander, Skinner batted 4-for-6 with one run and three RBI, while Lanier went 3-for-4 with two runs oand one RBI and Abreu 2-for-4 with two runs.
