COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Lander women's soccer season came to an end Tuesday night when second-seeded Columbus State defeated the seventh-seeded Lady Bearcats, 5-0, in the first round of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament.
Lander ends the season with a 10-7-1 record, while No. 11-ranked Columbus State improves to 17-1-1.
The Cougars got goals from five different players in the victory.
Stephanie Parrish netted the first goal at 5:59 on an assist from Leslie Mathews. The Cougars extended the lead to 2-0 at 10:31 when KC MacEachern scored on a Stephanie Lowery assist. CSU took a 3-0 halftime lead on Kate Walton's goal that was assisted by MacEachern at 17:26.
Lowery made it 4-0 on an assist from Catherine Lovin at 48:33 and the Cougars concluded the scoring at 58:02 when Mathews took a pass from MacEachern and scored at 58:02.
CSU outshot Lander, 11-9, but the Bearcats led in corner kicks, 5-0.
Lander goalkeeper Katherine Baltz collected three saves, while CSU's Willi Babillis and Mary Mancin had three each, too.
