SPARTANBURG - The Lander women's soccer team got goals from four different players Wednesday night as the Bearcats defeated Converse College, 4-0, in a non-conference game. It was Lander's fourth shutout of the season.
Lander improves to 3-1-1 overall, while Converse slips to 2-5.
Christin Moss kicked off the scoring for the Lady Bearcats when she took advantage of a reflected shot and found the back of the net at 10:44.
Lara Middlebrook gave the Bearcats a 2-0 lead at 23:17 on an unassisted goal. Lander stretched the lead to 3-0 at 39:39 on Lauren MacDonald's assisted goal from Kelly Maupin. The final goal came at 82:09 on Jamie Shaw's unassisted goal from 35 yards.
Lander outshot the Valkyries, 19-2, and led in corner kicks, 3-2.
Converse goalkeepers Ashley Mercuri and Eric Clinton had four saves each, while Lander's Chelsea Beetch posted two.
