SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Lander volleyball team split its games Saturday on the final day of the 11th Annual Chatham Orthopedic Pirate Classic hosted by Armstrong Atlantic State University. The Bearcats defeated Queens University, 25-14, 25-10, 25-20, then fell to Lynn University, 25-14, 25-15, 25-20.
Lander is now 7-2 overall and will host USC Aiken at 7 p.m., Wednesday in Horne Arena in its Peach Belt Conference opener.
Against Queens, Melissa McCracken led the way with 11 kills, while Magi Nottingham had nine kills and 14 digs. Candace LaRocca added 20 assists, eight digs and two service aces, while Madison Kubal recorded 13 digs and four service aces. Abbey Focht also had four service aces.
Against Lynn, McCracken had eight kills, while Nottingham and Courtney Simmons had five each. LaRocca added 20 assists and Nottingham and Kubal totaled eight digs each.
