SAVANNAH, Ga. - After equaling its best start in program history at 6-0, the Lander volleyball team suffered its first loss of the season Friday afternoon when the Bearcats lost to Barry University, 25-10, 25-17, 25-19, in the 11th Annual Chatham Orthopedics Pirate Volleyball Classic at Armstrong Atlantic State University.
The Bearcats are now 6-1 and will face Queens University at 11 a.m. Saturday and Lynn University at 1:30.
Melissa McCracken led the Bearcats with six kills, seven digs and two solo blocks. Ashley Ferry had 11 digs, while Candace LaRocca and Abbey Focht each recorded six assists.
Barry was led by Julia Teixeira (13 kills, 13 digs) and Libby Walter (21 assists, eight digs).
