AMERICUS, Ga. - Five different players scored goals Saturday afternoon to lead the Lander women's soccer team to a 5-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over Georgia Southwestern University.
Lander improves to 6-1-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the PBC, while GSW drops to 3-7-0, 0-4-0.
Lander took a 1-0 lead at 24:46 on Casi Jones' unassisted goal off a rebounded shot in front of the goal. The Bearcats made it 2-0 on Carly Murray's goal, assisted by Jamie Shaw at 49:00.
Georgia Southwestern cut the lead to 2-1 at 53:04 when Brittney Hill headed a shot in on an assist from Ally Canganelli.
Shaw scored on Jones' assist at 82:13 to give Lander a 3-1 lead.
The Bearcats' final two goals came when Aly Schearer found the back of the net off a corner kick at 86:11, and three minutes later Kendall Couch scored an unassisted goal from near midfield at 89:06.
Lander outshot the Lady Hurricanes, 19-4, and led in corner kicks, 10-0.
GSW goalkeeper Amber Bahri recorded five saves, while Lander's Rachel Baggett and Katherine Baltz had one each.
