SAVANNAH, Ga. - The fifth-seeded Georgia College & State University women's tennis team defeated eighth-seeded Lander, 5-0, Saturday morning in the consolation round of the Peach Belt Conference tournament hosted by Armstrong Atlantic State Univesity.
GCSU improves to 15-7 overall, while Lander falls to 12-11.
In doubles, No. 1 Marjorie Ceppo/Celine Martin (GCSU) def. Anni Pajunen/Ana Luiza Zaia, 8-4; No. 2 Diane Danna/Sofia Intriago (GCSU) def. Caitlin Fell/Vuokko Vahatalo, 8-3; and No. 3 Marie LeFevre/Bertille Lion (GCSU) def. Kristinanne Emmanouil/Fernanda Oliveira, 8-2.
In singles, GCSU only needed two wins to clinch the match. At No. 1 singles, Ceppo (GCSU) def. Oliveira, 6-0, 6-2; and Danna (GCSU) def. Vahatalo, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 2 singles.
