DUE WEST, S.C. - Chachere Freeman threw a complete game shutout and the No. 14-ranked Erskine College baseball team scored eight runs on 11 hits to take a 8-0 non-conference victory over Lander Tuesday afternoon at Grier Field.
Erskine improves to 32-4 on the season, while Lander falls to 16-19.
Erskine took a 2-0 lead in the second on a two-run double by Matt Wurzer and added two more runs in the third on a two-run home run by Bryan Fogle. Fogle added his second two-run homer of the day in the eighth to give Erskine the 8-0 victory.
The Fleet were led at the plate by Fogle who went 2-for-4 with the two home runs and four RBI, while John Bolding finished the game 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Ross Hanna went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Freeman picked up the win scattering seven hits and striking out three in the complete game victory.
Brooks Arnette led the Bearcats going 3-for-3, while Malcolm McLeod went 2-for-4 with one double. Tim Rau took the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits in four innings of work.
