GREENWOOD – The Lander baseball team won its second straight game Thursday afternoon when the Bearcats defeated North Greenville, 8-6 in the Lander/Rawlings Classic at Legion Field.
Lander improves to 7-10 overall, while North Greenville drops to 2-18-1.
Casey Downam (2-1) earned the win in three innings of relief, while the Crusaders' Grayson Kelly suffered the loss.
For Lander, Nate Mangiapane went 2-for-3 with one double and two runs scored; Malcolm McLeod went 1-for-5 with one double and one run scored; and Brian Bender went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
For North Greenville, Curt Marshall went 2-for-4 with one homerun and one double, Grant Kelley went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI; and Christ Harbit went 2-for-3.
