FLORENCE - The Brevard College baseball team rallied for 13 runs in the fifth inning Saturday afternoon and went on to defeat Lander 16-10 in the Swamp Fox Challenge hosted by Francis Marion.
Brevard improves to 1-1, while Lander drops to 2-3.
Casey Downam (0-1) took the loss for Lander, walking two and allowing four earned runs in one-third of an inning. Nathan Roubicek started the game for Lander and struck out six, walked three and gave up seven earned runs in 4.1 innings.
Gabe McCann (2-for-5, one run scored, one RBI), AJ Nunziato (1-for-4, three runs scored, two RBI), Brooks Arnette (1-for-3, one run, one RBI), and Josh Lovvorn (1-for-4, one run, one RBI) all doubled.
Lander took a 1-0 lead in the second inning and added six runs in the third and three in the fourth to go up 10-0.
