GREENWOOD----Catawba College's David Thomas went 2-for-4 with one home run, one double and four RBI Sunday afternoon to lead the Indians to a 10-1 non-conference victory over Lander University at Legion Field. Catawba claimed the weekend series, 2-1.

Catawba's Alex Fairweather (1-0) earned the win on the mound, striking out five, walking one and allowing just one earned run on five hits in 5.2 innings pitched.
Lander's Nathan Roubicek (0-1) suffered the loss, striking out six, and allowing three earned runs on six hits in 4.1 innings pitched.
Catawba took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Ryan Query singled, advanced to second and third on groundouts then scored on Andrew O'Neil's RBI single to third base.
The Indians stretched their lead to 3-0 in the fifth when Weston Church and Bubba Morris scored on David Thomas' RBI double down the left field line.
Lander cut the margin to 3-1 in the fifth when Hunter Ruoss, who walked and stole second, scored on Brian Bender's RBI single to left field.
Catawba increased its lead to 5-1 in the eighth inning when Craige Lyerly scored on a passed ball and Chad Baker scored on Matt Kepley's RBI single.
The Indians racked up five runs in the final inning led by Thomas' two-run homer. Baker added an RBI single which scored Lyerly, and Zeb Link lined a two-run double to left field scoring Jerry Sands and Baker.
For Lander, Josh Lovvorn went 1-for-3 with one double, while Bender, Robert Skinner, T.J. Guinan and Gabe McCann all singled.
For Catawba, Sands went 2-for-4 with one run scored, Baker 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, Morris 1-for-3 with two runs, Query 1-for-4 with one run, and Church 1-for-4 with one run.
