GAFFNEY - The Lander University baseball team dropped to 3-4 overall Thursday afternoon when the Bearcats were defeated by Limestone College, 2-1, in a non-conference game at Bob Prevatte Field.
The Saints improve to 5-3 overall.
Michael McAbee picked up his second win of the season as he pitched the opening six innings, striking out five and allowing three hits. Brock White recorded his second save of the season as he only allowed one hit in the final 1 1/3 innings.
Lander's Daniel Hinchberger (2-1) took the loss for Lander. He recorded six strikeouts while giving up four hits.
The Saints scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the second. Phillip Soden tripled and scored on Kyle Brewer's sacrifice fly. Limestone scored once more in the fifth when Dylan Anthony who got on base after being hit by a pitch, stole second and advanced to third on an error, scored on a sacrifice fly by A.J. Bsharah.
Lander tried to rally in the bottom of the eighth inning. With two outs, T.J. Guinan scored on Josh Lovvorn's RBI single.
Limestone's Soden was 3-for-4 at bat with one run scored, and had a stolen base.
